Kingfisher Institute “A Thousand Mile Walk—Reason, Altruism, William James and Blisters” Presentation: FREE. Open to everyone. Presented by the College of Arts and Sciences’ new Kingfisher Institute, celebrating the creative intersection between the liberal arts and sciences and professional education. In this talk, Tom Kirsch, MD, MPH, BA’80, director of the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health, will connect his travel stories to some of the values he found in a Creighton education. ILAC Presents: Julia Alvarez, author of In the Time of the Butterflies: FREE. Open to everyone. Celebrating the 45th anniversary of Creighton’s partnership with, and continued commitment to, the Dominican Republic. Julia Alvarez is an award-winning Dominican-American poet, novelist and essayist. She is a writer-in-residence at Middlebury College. Book signing to follow. Books will be available for purchase.

Back to the Classroom- Documentary Filmmaking at the Margins: Join us for a special presentation of Backpack Journalism’s documentary. After the screening, Carol Zuegner, PhD, chair of the journalism department, and John O’Keefe, PhD, professor of theology, will present on documenting at the margins and the impactful opportunities available to Creighton students. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear what Creighton students, faculty and staff are doing to give a voice to those without one. This presentation is also being offered via Facebook LIVE

Back to the Classroom— The Opioid Crisis: A Creighton Perspective: Come here from Pharmacy faculty Curt Barr, PharmD, BSPHA’74, and Ed DeSimone, PhD, as they share their experiences and professional commitment to fighting substance abuse, addiction and, especially, the U.S. opioid epidemic. Hilltop Jam: Meet us on the mall for family-friendly activities. Enjoy face painters, balloon artists, lawn games and live music. Pharmacy Lab Open House: FREE. Open to everyone, especially Creighton pharmacy alumni and their family. The pharmacy skills lab faculty and staff have lined up student demonstrations of new equipment and techniques that highlight the progress pharmacy education has made over the years. Come check out the new state-of-the art pharmacy teaching lab, bigger and better equipped than most in the country, built on what used to be the Creighton basketball and volleyball courts. In addition to tours and demonstrations, light refreshments and kid activities showcasing the pharmacy professions have been organized. Demonstrations will also be shown via Facebook LIVE.

Liturgy of Gratitude for the Life of Fr. Morrison Mass with Marriage Blessing: Before heading to the SPAHP Main Event, everyone is welcome to Mass, especially those who met or married on the Creighton campus and those who graduated during Fr. Morrison’s presidency. Mass in celebration and blessing of married couples, and gratitude for the life of the Rev. Michael G. Morrison, SJ, Creighton’s 22nd president.

FREE. Interim Dean Amy Friedman Wilson will present a short "State of the School" Update at 6:30 p.m. All SPAHP alumni and friends are encouraged to gather here to reunite with each other, remember friends of today, yesterday and tomorrow, and reconnect with the school to learn what is happening now and in the future.Come enjoy hosted food, bar, and fun, including trivia rounds with prizes. While graduates of all years welcome, space is reserved for those celebrating class reunions*: pharmacy classes of 1958, 1978, 1988, 1993, 1998, and entering classes of 1978 (~1981 grads) and 1993; DPT classes of 1998 and 2008. A “virtual reunion” option via Facebook LIVE is available for those unable to attend in person. Members of the Distance Pharmacy Class of 2008 are encouraged to participate in the virtual reunion.

SPAHP Party with Class Reunion Gatherings: FREE. All SPAHP graduates, especially class reunion celebrants are encouraged to stay and network after the Dean’s Reception. We will continue with the hosted bar and food; optional trivia challenges and prizes for those attending in person or via Facebook LIVE. You're invited to hand out with SPASHP all night (4-11 p.m.). Come and go as your schedule allows, meet-up as a class before or after the soccer game, or just show up and make new friends.
