Event description

Description

Cleanup Location:

  • April 10th: on Olley Creek in Tramore Park, 2150 East-West Connector, Austell

Stewardship Mobs are a fun and easy way for community members to participate in service projects without making an ongoing commitment. Organized in the afternoons, these projects rotate across the county and allow those seeking volunteer service to give two hours of time helping with a special project while learning about watersheds and pollution prevention.

Service learning activities include: creek cleanups, invasive plant removal, and storm drain marking.

  • Creek Cleanups - help remove litter for local waterways. We supply the gloves, bags, litter sticks, etc.
  • Invasive Plan Removal - help eliminate exotic invasive species from the landscape. We provide tools and safety gear.
  • Storm Drain Marking - help educate the community that only rain should go down storm drains. Maps, markers and education materials are provided.

FAQs

What can/can't I bring to the event?

We will provide you with trash bags, grabbers (litter sticks), orange safety vests, blue latex gloves (sizes small, medium, and large), and data cards to record the debris we collect. We will have safety and first aid supplies, coolers of water and t-shirts for participants while supplies last.

For the creek cleanups, wear clothes that can get wet and closed-toes shoes like tennis shoes or water shoes. If you have your own pair of rubber boots or waders, you could bring them. You may also want to bring your own cotton gloves to wear over the blue gloves.
