Creature Feature Halloween Horror Writing

Creature Feature Halloween Horror Writing

Actions and Detail Panel

An hour of monster inspired writing. Tell the story of a daring demon, write an ode to ogres, or create your own mythological creature.

About this event

An hour-long prompt based generative workshop. Prompts will vary from session to session, inspired by classic monsters like vampire, werewolves, zombies, etc or your very own creature creations. Attend one or several sessions to get a variety of inspiration for your own terrifying tales. Prompts are a suggested starting point; modify them to fit your needs or ignore them and writer anything you like. Write in any style, form or genre. Workshop format is excellent for writers of all levels, especially beginners with little or no experience. Small and intimate groups, maximum of five participants.

Together we'll write to suggested prompts for 10-20 minutes each. Everybody will be given the opportunity to share their writing and receive feedback. You are not required to read your work aloud; it is always voluntary. Responses to writing will focus on what is strong and memorable about the writing. All writing is treated as fiction and kept confidential.

You will receive an email with guidelines and Zoom link. Please check spam/junk folders or contact me if you do not receive confirmation email. Please try your best to be a few minutes early, so we can start on time. Participants more than fifteen (15) minutes late will not be admitted into the workshop.

Workshops conducted using the Amhurst Writers & Artists method. Alexis M. Collazo is an AWA Affiliate, certified to lead workshops in the AWA method as described in Writing Alone and With Others by Pat Schneider, Oxford University Press. You can visit for more information.
