Event Details

Here is a creative writing workshop that will challenge participants to think about some of their best memories, experiences, favorite words, and/or hobbies to construct a poem or short story based on those ideas. It is up to the writer to use fact or fiction. This workshop may include group brainstorming and sharing to each participant's comfort level. Join us and be apart of shaping this workshop into monthly or bimonthly opportunity for our community!

Meet your instructor, Nate Thesing. Nate graduated from Grand View University with a B.A. in English. He has worked, interned and lead workshops as a Writing Center tutor at Grand View University. Nate is passionate about sharing his passion through writing and continues to dedicate a portion of his time volunteering and advocating for others. Nate has participated in national and regional academic conferences presenting work focusing on tutoring, student agency, and American culture. Currently, you will find Nate working at the West Des Moines Public Library as a circulation clerk. He is researching graduate schools within the United States and Europe with hopes of furthering his own, and others, education.
