Event description

Description

As parents, we all know how naturally creative kids are.

We see it everyday in their amazing drawings, in their fascinating observations of the world and in their boundless imaginations.

But too often as children and young adults progress through the school system and later, enter the workforce, these creative talents get lost under the weight of external pressures which tell us that there is a ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ way to do things.

This is not only a great waste of potential but increasingly, it will not be the skill set needed for our kids to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

The World Economic Forum estimates that young people today will change careers at least seven times in their lives, and that 35 percent of the skills required today will be different in five years.

Economists also predict that advances in technology will make as many as 40% of today’s jobs obsolete, which means that having the ability to be agile and to think creatively has never been more important.

About these workshops

These school holiday workshops will be a fun, stimulating way for kids to enjoy creative play, explore their interests and develop new skills which will allow them to develop their natural creativity.

Workshops will cover

  • Different ways of seeing the world - exploring light, colour, contrast and movement

  • Storytelling - different ways of generating ideas, different ways to tell stories, using your imagination, quirky characters, improvisation

  • Observing and documenting the world around you - collecting, recording, analysing, arranging
