Express Create Empower
Survivor Art Empowerment Workshop
February 2, 2013
11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
One Crisis Center Plaza
Tampa, FL 33613
This survivor inspired workshop is an opportunity for survivors of sexual violence to come together in a supportive environment, be creative and express artistically.
Workshop participants will create their own representation of their "self" by utilizing the ancient art form of creating a mandala.
The word "mandala" finds its roots in Tibetan Sanskrit, meaning "containing" or "circle completion". This is a form of art known by some to symbolize the unconscious self. It is believed to be a form of self-expression depicting the journey at this moment- soul expression.
Participates in this workshop will be taught the techniques of this art form in the effort to learn how art can be healing and an expression of the self.
Benefits of this workshop include
- Learning self-soothing and positive coping techniques
- Learning new ways to calm
- Learning a new art form
- Utilizing a creative outlet
- Expressing oneself creatively
This workshop is not counseling and should not be considered therapy.
