How can one artist’s skull obsession set your mind free?

What does a sword swallower know about cutting edge thinking?

How can a tap dancer help you think on your feet?

Discover the answers to these questions and more.

ALT Speakers created this opportunity for you to sample thoughtfully created educational experiences which teach leadership and personal development through the arts.

Learn how these experiences with artists can help employees develop essential skills like resourceful thinking and creative problem solving and an improved ability to communicate and collaborate.

In this highly interactive morning workshop you will:

  • Meet ALT Speakers founders and learn about the unique approach to leadership education and personal development they can bring to your organization.
  • Participate in a creative practice workshop with one of the featured artists.
  • Join an in-depth discussion with ALT Speakers co-founder, Noah Scalin and Caitlin Kilcoin of the Greater Richmond Chamber about how to apply creative practices to the workplace and beyond.
  • Meet with others like you who are passionate about opening the door for innovation.

Meet The Presenters

Noah Scalin Artist/Author

Scalin turned his own year-long artistic experiment into a career devoted bringing out creativity in others. His talks and workshops guide participants through the practical steps to getting your creative engine revved and sustaining this energy even in the most restrictive circumstances.

Jenai West, Tap Dancer

West uses the fundamental elements of tap dancing to show you how to think on your feet. Gain a new perspective on this uniquely American art form and learn how the skills she’s learned along her own creative journey can be used from the floorboards to the boardroom.

Rob Neill, Slam Poet

Neill lets creativity take center stage in his talk, guiding participants though the steps that will help them develop new narratives in their professional lives. By spotlighting personality, spontaneity and structure; he is able to draw out participants’ hidden ability.

Ilise “The Lady Aye” Carter, Sword Swallower

Carter takes groups through her evolution from mild-mannered financial editor to the celebrated “Sweetheart of the Sideshow” in order to help participants overcome their own fears, limitations and expectations and reach the new levels of confidence.

Caitlin Kilcoin, Leadership Engagement, Greater Richmond Chamber

Kilcoin, a New York native and former chemist at the Virginia State Lab, is the Manager of Leadership Engagement at the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce where she inspires people to fall in love with Richmond by developing programming and organizing events that help foster a sense of community.
