Music by Jackie Jedeye Jaxx Cohen

This is the final installment of a series of special workshops, in celebration of MAWU's 10-year anniversary. The theme of these creative movement workshops is "Community, Roots & Lineage", and the intent is to spark creative thought through movement. The workshops will feature guest instructors who are part of our community and who are representative of MAWU's roots as well as the lineage of house dance.

We are honored and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with these individuals. Our goal is to educate and encourage you all to expand your way of learning and thinking about house dance. We're suggesting a donation of $15 per workshop, but we will appreciate any amount you can give, whether more or less. Your donations will help cover our expenses, the guest instructors, and the DJ.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To reserve your spot, you must register for each date you wish to attend. Spots are limited!

Tine and Sidney's funky and jazzy style of swing dance has both influenced and been influenced by house dance, and together they boast a wealth of knowledge and style. Using inspiration from vernacular jazz and tap moves from swing era dances, they'll explore how rhythm and syncopation can expand your current house repertoire.

2 pm - 4 pm // Ephrat & Cricket // Concepts of Partnering and Creative Play

The goal of this workshop is to expand your world of dance and freestyle using elements of partnering, while creating a safe and fun environment of exploration with others. Cricket is our brother and a master of creative play, and he has had a strong connection with everyone in the crew from the very beginning. We are honored to have him with us to share his experience and insights. No partner required, just bring yourself and an open mind.
