Creative Conversation with EmcArts & ArtsFwd: Lateral Thinking Strategies
Event Information
Description
Join EmcArts for a Creative Conversation about lateral thinking skills.
This workshop will provide a unique, in-person opportunity to gain new skills in lateral thinking strategies, engage with others in the field about adaptive change in arts organizations, and participate in an exciting crowdsourcing initiative taking place within the ArtsFwd Business Unusual National Challenge.
Attendees will try out two lateral thinking activities for themselves, learn new strategies and skills, and leave the workshop equipped with new tools for tackling adaptive change initiatives in their respective organizations and work. The two activities (both of which are available as downloadable activities on ArtsFwd.org) are:
- Random Entry, which helps to generate a high volume of new ideas by breaking usual thinking patterns.
- Innovation Transfer, which helps to draw parallels between successful strategies from another adaptive change project and a current project.
Through these activities, attendees will develop outside-the-box responses to the projects proposed by the ArtsFwd Business Unusual National Challenge Finalist organizations. These newly generated ideas and responses will be shared with those Finalists, who will use the contributions to move forward and tackle their adaptive challenges.
This event is open to anyone with an interest in adaptive change, innovation, new approaches to complex challenges, and crowdsourcing projects, including: practitioners, service providers, policy makers, academics, activists, and students.
Wine and light refreshments will be served! All are welcome to come as early as 6:30pm for cocktails, snacks, and conversation.
