Event description
"Simply by being human, each of us is a Life Artist, whose palette is the choices we make and whose Life is our greatest work of Art."

About this Event

The act of deep listening is one of the most generous acts we can offer to ourselves and the people around us. It’s not always easy though. Our thoughts, judgements, expectations, and fears can get in the way of what is being said. This workshop will offer simple techniques to strengthen your ability to be present with your environment (both around you and within your mind and body). We will then apply these practices to various means of expression like poetry and drawing. This workshop is open to anyone. Please bring a journal and writing utensil, if you have them. Paper and pen will also be available.

Michael Kramer works in the world of historic architecture as an expert in terra cotta restoration and replication. He has worked on some of the most celebrated buildings in the city, giving him a unique perspective into the crossroads of ornament and architecture. He is also a buddhist practitioner. He finds the ancient sutras to be profoundly relevant to today’s human experience.

Creative Community is a series of classes and workshops that explore creativity, community building, and self care. CC takes the lens that we are all Life Artists: simply by being human we are inherently creative creatures whose palette is the choices we make, and whose Life is our greatest work of Art. These classes and workshops will give the community opportunities to learn new skills, create healthy practices, and explore our creativity. Classes are taught by members of the community, artists, and organizations who have skills to share - some are formally trained, others are self-taught in their field. We ask $10 for classes and $20 for workshops, but it is all sliding scale, and no one will be turned away. Please use the honor system to truly give what you can afford to contribute, so we can keep these classes going!

Class donations will be accepted on the day of the class, by cash or card.

PLEASE RSVP HERE on Eventbrite, so we know how many materials to prepare.
