Event description
"Simply by being human, each of us is a Life Artist, whose palette is the choices we make and whose Life is our greatest work of Art."

About this Event

This class will be focused on covering the basics of photography. If you have no knowledge of photography and how a camera works this class is a good place to start. Using this as a bridge of knowledge for further self-development in the art of photography.

To step further into practicing photography, an understanding of how images are made in both the mind and technology needs to be covered. The elements that make up the exposure triangle will be covered as well as review of camera functions and how to best set up your camera for common lighting situations.

Please bring DSLR with fixed or kit lenses, or a mirrorless (compact point and shoot) camera.

Ages 14+

Tristine Walker is an artist and photographer living in the Chicago land area. Studying photography since early 2000, Tristine has a base of knowledge that is rooted in traditional film photography that has grown and adapted alongside the development of digital photography.

Studying at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design after high school, Tristine completed her bachelors at Southern New Hampshire University and will soon start to pursue her M.F.A. in Digital Photography. She has given lessons at The Chicago Photography Academy and has also assisted future creatives with private lessons.

Believing that everyone deserves to know that magic behind photography, Tristine wants to provide the community with a resource for their own artistry. What she aims to give is a chance for people of any creed to hone their craft further.

Creative Community is a series of classes and workshops that explore creativity, community building, and self care. CC takes the lens that we are all Life Artists: simply by being human we are inherently creative creatures whose palette is the choices we make, and whose Life is our greatest work of Art. These classes and workshops will give the community opportunities to learn new skills, create healthy practices, and explore our creativity. Classes are taught by members of the community, artists, and organizations who have skills to share - some are formally trained, others are self-taught in their field. We ask $10 for classes and $20 for workshops, but it is all sliding scale, and no one will be turned away. Please use the honor system to truly give what you can afford to contribute, so we can keep these classes going!

Class donations will be accepted on the day of the class, by cash or card.

PLEASE RSVP HERE on Eventbrite, so we know how many materials to prepare.
