About this Event
Take a creative break! Join musician, storyteller and teacher, Stephen Day, to jump into the world of telling stories through music. Stephen will introduce students to well-known “story-songs.” Through, listening, discussion and co-creation activities, students will learn how music weaves with words to create scenes and story, and plant seeds for their own story songs. Prepare for a lively hour of musical and poetic enrichment, in community with your fellow students. All levels of experience welcome!
About the teacher: Sarod player, singer / songwriter, composer and meditator Stephen Day writes songs and compositions inspired by his many music adventures around the world. He studied Sarod with ward-winning master Ustad Amjad Ali Khan for three years, and has toured and performed in Europe, India and America. Now based in Los Angeles, he writes music for TV and Film, and has recorded several albums of songs and traditional Indian music ragas. Stephen is the founder of “Ombience” a 501 c3 non-profit organization dedicated to self-reflection through the arts and has received awards for his humanitarian work from the Global Peace Foundation.
