Description of Class - This class is designed for anyone who would like to learn and apply Improvisation tools to life, connection and creation. Over the course of six, 75 minute workshops participants will develop confidence, patterns and storytelling skills that lend themselves to trust, engagement, connection and acceptance. Through improv strategies participants develop communication skills that become part of a conversation, lend to story development and explore the success or failure of a collaborative structure while celebrating the outcome. The class will explore improv techniques and focus on at least one storytelling improv structure per session that includes making offers, CROW (Character, Relationships, Objective, Where) and collaboration. Each class will finish with a conversation that reviews the strategies, realizations and further work. Classes will include movement that accommodates a variety of abilities.
Social Engagement - The application of of “yes-and” helps people to feel heard, valued and accepted. Deeper listening skills are developed as we add to suggestions, open up to collaborative ideas and become more open by shifting language and perspective. The classes will be structured so that participants make personal connections and get to know each other, developing respect for each other through listening, trust and understanding.
Culminating Event Description - The sixth session will feature class participants re-engaging in improv structures highlighted in the classes, a salon style conversation and participants may invite guests to watch and participate in the conversation.
This workshop is FREE to participants thanks to a generous grant from The Nevada Arts Council, The National Endowment For The Arts & Lifetime Arts.
