Creation Care & Climate Justice
A gathering for Christians (young people & adults) in the Midlands
to CONNECT, REFLECT, PLAN and ACT

Saturday 23rd November, 10.30am for 11am start, 4pm finish
Please bring food to eat and share

Programme for the day:

10.30am Arrivals & refreshments

11am Welcome & opening prayers (led by staff and students from Queen's Foundation)

11.15am "The house is on fire": a call to action from our young leaders (Aaron Smith and friends from Birmingham Youth Strike 4 Climate)

11.35am Climate grief, eco-anxiety... and faith: finding language to connect faith and action (Paul Bodenham, Green Christian)

12.15pm Possibilites for action (5-10 min slots introducing afternoon workshops) [exact details TBC]

  • Supporting young people to lead the way (Aaron Smith, BYS4C & Tim Evans, Worth Unlimited)
  • Falling in love with creation (Sam Ewell)
  • Personal & communal change through eco-church (Beryl Moppett & Marilyn Hull, BACA)
  • Faiths engaging with local government (Chris Martin, Footsteps)
  • Creation care and inter-faith relationships (Jess Foster & TBC)
  • Taking our congregations on a journey (Hannah Bowring, TearFund)
  • Non-violent direct action & Extinction Rebellion (Fr Martin Newell, Christian Climate Action)
  • Building communities of care for the climate crisis (Paul Bodenham, Green Christian)

12.45pm Lunch (bring & share)

2pm Tea break

2.15pm Afternoon workshops #2 (as above)

3pm Time to gather

3.10pm What has not been said? What voices have not been heard? What tensions are unresolved?

10am depart for Hodge Hill
Returning to Costa Coffee at the end of the event.
