Creating Safe and Inclusive Environments for Youth
Ensuring the healthy development of youth includes creating afterschool environments that are emotionally safe for all youth regardless of their cultural, religious, gender or sexual identity. In this session, participants will explore elements of programming that promote a young person’s sense of belonging, will have an opportunity to assess their programs inclusiveness and will gain strategies for developing a program culture whose policies and practices are respectful, welcoming and embrace diversity. As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to identify programmatic approaches to supporting a young person’s sense of belonging; and will be able to go back to their sites and review/update policies and procedures to ensure inclusiveness

Coffee/tea provided. Participants are welcome to bring breakfast with them.
Participants will receive certificates upon completion of the training.
