Healthy soil means healthy plants means healthy people

About this Event

Are you curious about growing your own medicinal herbs? This class will include discussions about soil and fertility, as well as planting and harvesting, related to eight medicinal plants. You will learn how to make and use herbal extracts, oils, and teas from these plants and why they are beneficial for your health. We will focus on these eight plants:

  • Lemon Balm
  • Chamomile
  • Calendula
  • Tulsi (also known as Holy Basil)
  • Ashwagandha
  • Echinacea
  • Milky Oat Seed
  • Skullcap

**Organically certified plants from Red Clover Herbal Apothecary Farm will be available for sale after class. Dragonfly Gardens just down the road also carries some of these plants.

Herbalist, herb farmer, and plant medicine maker Nancy Graden grew up on a small farm surrounded by woods, wild plants, animals, and water, creating a strong, lifelong foundation with the natural world. After immersing herself in the study of “Western Clinical Herbalism,” a deep reverence for the intelligence of plants and the part their gifts play in our health and wellbeing evolved. Red Clover Herbal Apothecary Farm, now in its seventh year, was born out of this understanding.

The farm strives to work with nature, not against it, by building healthy soils that produce healthy plants that contribute to the health of people. Red Clover Herbal Apothecary Farm is certified organic, growing and wild-harvesting over 60 different kinds of medicinal and culinary herbs. The farm provides local communities with hand-crafted, high-quality herbal products including teas, salves, extracts, elixirs and more. Red Clover also offers seasonal CSA herbal shares that contribute to wellbeing and teaches classes throughout the year—educating people on how to grow and use plant medicine for themselves and their families.
