Event description

Description

Join us on Thursday, June 1st from 7:00 to 9:00 PM for an educational lecture on creating fire resistant landscaping for your home and business.

There is no fee for this class but donations are kindly requested to benefit The Botanic Garden.

This class is open to the public but advance registration is requested.

Dr. Schutzki will present tips to homeowners and business owners on planning and designing a fire resistant landscape.

Each year in Michigan, wildfires damage or destroy homes and businesses. Proper landscape can help make homes and buildings “firewise” through the selection and placement of plants that are fire resistant. Dr. Schutzki will talk about the types of plants that can be used for this style of landscape.

About Dr. Robert Schutzki: Dr. Schutzki earned his PhD at Michigan State University where he is responsible for teaching in the area of Landscape Horticulture. He has also taught Landscape Design School classes offered by Michigan Garden Clubs for many years. Through him, numerous plants and shrubs have generously been gifted to The Botanic Garden for trial plantings.
