About the Teacher:
After co-founding the Valhalla community in Montreal, Marty spent his time studying various community models around the world to understand what works and what doesn’t. Marty took Diana Leafe Christian’s classes and visited her in her Ecovillage to learn more about community building. Since then, Marty has exchanged with many community leaders and founders around the world, covering many different types of projects such as Ecovillages, Collaborative workspaces, Urban Communities, Indigenous communities and more.
To continue growing his knowledge on community, Marty has delved deeper into topics like Financial Planning for Coops, Sociocracy, Conflict Resolution Models and Quebec Legal models.
Marty has been giving classes on these topics for over a year now and is regularly exchanging with other community leaders on his own developments on how to better manage communities. Marty has given classes with the EDE for the Global Ecovillage Network.
He is constantly applying what he learns to determine if the models work on a practical level.
