Creating an LGBTQ Affirming Therapeutic Relationship
Presented by Allison Burnett, LCSW, Primary Therapist & Program Coordinator at Castlewood at The Highlands, Birmingham, AL

After reviewing proper language to be used when working with the LGBTQ community, Allison will guide attendees through self-reflection on their sexual identity, and how it may affect their relationship with their LGBTQ clients. By using a three-step model, clinicians will be able to assess how heteronormative assumptions, institutional heterosexism, and heterosexual privilege may affect their relationship with their clients.
