Walk away with a meaningful self-care plan, not another to-do list!

About this event

Walk away with a meaningful self-care plan, not another to-do list. We'll explore when mindfulness and other popular practices are helpful, and how to know when it's best to reach for something else.

Self-care can look prescriptive. From social media posts to well-regarded advice books, everyone has suggestions for which activities support your body, brain, and relationships best. "Meditate, do yoga, journal..." What's wrong with these well-intended lists?

During this interactive hour, we will walk through the challenges of our traditional view of self-care, including why some of our favorite resources can suddenly fall flat.

Rachel will share practical tips based on leading research and will walk us through the practical steps of creating a more resilient, personalized self-care plan. Created in partnership with her work for the Chicago Department of Public Health, Rachel is proud to offer this important workshop as a gift to support those in the Andersonville community and beyond.

About the Speaker

Rachel is a UCLA certified mindfulness educator and founder of the Year of Living Better® program. She applies science-backed wellness strategies and self-improvement techniques to offer practical teaching that focuses on feeling healthier, more rested, and motivated to take on new challenges.

Since February 2020, Rachel has also served as the Lead Mindfulness Educator for the Chicago Department of Public Health.

Prior to joining the wellness community, Rachel served as Editor-in-Chief of InStyle magazine in Prague where she lived for almost a decade, and then as an in-demand marketing consultant for Fortune 500 companies.

In her downtime, she travels the world exploring new cultures and volunteering for organizations such as English in Mind (a non-profit English language school in Haiti). Rachel is a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association, the American Mindfulness Research Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
