Create Your Vision

To transform your ideas into impact, having a clear vision is the essential stepping stone. This session will start with a set of simple, yet powerful calligraphy exercises that will connect you with your heart and creativity. You will then be guided through a visualization exercise to explore what the future looks like when you’ve achieved the impact that you want to make. The exercise will help you define your daring vision, giving you direction and focus.

The workshop will be facilitated by David Schneider and Elena Idu .

David has been a teacher of Dharma Art for 25 years and a practitioner of Buddhist meditation for 50 years. He is also an author of Street Zen; The Life & Work of Issan Dorsey and Crowded by Beauty: The Life and Zen of Poet Philip Whalen, and co-editor with Kazuaki Tanahashi of Essential Zen.

Through simple calligraphy exercises, like working with dots and lines , he will guide you to explore how, in his words, “infusing even the simplest marks with mindfulness and intention leads to a more complete, more conscious visual communication, and thus to a more authentic expression generally”.

Elena is a Lead Practitioner at Heartbeat Ventures and the co-creator of The Wholehearted Series. Throughout her career, she has facilitated vision and strategy sessions for business teams and has coached individuals on defining and following their personal vision. Along with her experience in management consulting and innovation, she brings her knowledge in mindfulness, as a vehicle that enables creativity and authentic expression.

She will guide you through a visualization exercise in order to create a clear and compelling mental picture of what you would like to achieve and what you need along the way. She believes that “visualization is a simple, yet powerful tool to create from our imagination, unconstrained by what we think is possible or doable. It enables us to be truly daring and discover new possibilities.”
