About this Event

***This workshop is being offered as a pay what you can event, with a suggested donation of $20.00.***

What happens when theory and practice meet for coffee in a digital book store? Join Dr. Anderson Smith for a discussion and Q&A on the ways that a digital book club has built a community with a group of formerly incarcerated strangers, separated by three different time zones.

Dr. Anderson P. Smith received his Ph.D. in English Education from Columbia University. He has taught creative writing in both medium and maximum-security prisons in New York. He is also the Chief Impact Officer for Bookclubz.com and serves on the Board of Directors for the Justice Arts Coalition. Anderson supports book clubs from multiple disciplines with the spirit of cultivating caring communities that explore identity and language. Dr. Smith has a strong commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion while supporting ways to question and change inequitable society norms. His research interests align with self-reflection and resilience that emerge through active participation in a book club community.
