Description

Crazy Little Thing Called Love; Helping Sibs Get Along.

As parents we want what is best for our kids and we want them to have friendships and close relationships in life. What we have found is that the basis of those relationships and friendships starts at home with siblings and family members. Our family helps us shape our ideals about ourselves, others, and about life in general. What research has shown us is that we must look at the whole person and the person's environment to adequately assess needs and how to meet them. This is often referred to in social work as the person-in-environment (PIE) theory. When thinking about our relationships, especially those with siblings, family, and friends we can see different patterns and trends based on the current environment and status of ourselves and the other people in our lives. We will look at different situations that can impact our relationships in negative ways and discuss some positive things that we can do to help prevent blow-ups, manage/resolve conflicts, and provide our children opportunities for growth and life skills.

Carrie Ysseldyke, LMSW, has been clinically practicing school social work for the past four years at Hudsonville Public Schools servicing grades K-12. She has over 10 years experience in the schools with at-risk high school students. Carrie also has a level 1 trauma certification from Michigan State University. Along with professional experience her life experience as a wife and mother have helped inform her practice.

Welcome to our Well-Bean Classroom! We've created a series of parenting workshops to support parents in meeting the emotional and mental needs of their children. In the mindful spirit of expanding our knowledge and learning from others, we’ve inviting a multi-disciplinary team of local experts to share evidence-based research and strategies with parents who are intentional about building awareness and resilience in their children and within themselves. We’re all on a different path in our parenting, but we were not designed to go about it alone. These classes are designed to not only provide education, but to create a space for connection and time for self-care and reflection for parents. We invite you to expand your parenting village and join us for tea, education, conversation and community. For more information about Well-Bean visit us @ www.wellbeankidsyoga.com

We look forward to you joining us in March. Should you have any questions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Warmly,

Jen Rapanos, LMSW, RCYT
