Event description

Description

In partnership with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall and the Rockwall County Sheriff's Office, Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management will be hosting the free training described below. The three classes will be presented in one four hour block.

The training is free however we are requiring registration for each participant due to limited space. We HIGHLY encourage a minimum age of 13 due to the sensistive nature of the active shooter portion of the training. However, it is up to the parents to determine the maturity of the child and whether the material is appropriate for them.

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) -

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Stop the Bleed -

Massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from an active shooter or explosive event where a response is delayed can result in death. Similar to how the public learns and performs CPR, the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings, and tourniquets. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within five to 10 minutes.

Basic First Aid -

Designed to help non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis, this basic first aid instruction allows you to gain an understanding of first aid best practices for a wide range of conditions.
