Join Cranbrook Contemporaries for an in-depth look at the work of two Cranbrook Academy of Art alumnae currently on view at David Klein Gallery.
Gallery Director, Christine Schefman will discuss new photographic work by Brittany Nelson (Photography '11). In the series 'Alternative Process' Nelson revitalizes the tintype, a photographic technique from the 19th Century, to create modern abstractions.
Susan Goethel Campbell (Printmaking '89) will discuss her new video, 'Chasing Venus, 180 degrees' recorded at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada over the Canadian Rockies during the Summer Solstice, a time when the moon appears to follow the planet Venus across the sky.
Cranbrook Contemporaries are a group of young professionals who advocate for contemporary art, design, craft and culture. Membership is open to anyone interested in broadening their engagement with the arts in our community through social and educational programs.
