BYOSupplies.

(supply list here: https://www.badassherstory.com/tutorials)

On the “Tutorials” section of the website you can find images and links to the products which might help when you hit the craft store. Also on the tutorials page, are 3 short videos that I made to help new stitchers learn to stitch. You might want to watch them before we get together. It will shorten your learning curve that night.

If you are a pro-stitcher, it would be dreamy if you centered yourself around folks who might be less skilled to offer a hand, suggestion, and some guidance.

Donations go to the PO Box Collective for the use of the space and in support of their mission.

About Badass HERstory:

Badass HERstory is a craftivism (craft+activism) project meant to support individuals in exploring self and voice, build community, and reshape narrative. This project will provide an opportunity for folks to learn a new skill set with deep female roots (embroidery), to participate as global activists building off of and expanding the momentum of the equality movement, as well as, the incentive to put down their devices and create something meaningful with their hands and hearts.

Participants will be asked to share “their story” onto a 12 x 12 inch piece of fabric (with a 1" blank margin). These panels will then be sewn together and used to skin 3-dimensional structures in what will become a massive public art installation. Additionally, there will be an interactive, robust, digital catalog which will include photos of each piece and context from every contributor.

The project is open to all women, women-identified, and gender nonbinary folks on the planet. The workshop is open to everyone.

About PO Box Collective:

PO BOX is a creative collective & intergenerational social practice center dedicated to building Rogers Park community through radical art making & programming. We embrace a horizontal organization model that centers marginalized voices, confronts systems of oppression while fostering mutual growth & healing. We will be hosting skill and resource sharing workshops.
