CRAFTING WORLDS - #3 EDITION


For decades the game and film industry in Sweden have been crafting imaginative and vivid worlds for audiences all over the world. Now it’s time for them to meet – AGAIN!


ABOUT CRAFTING WORLDS

Crafting Worlds is a collaboration between BOOST Hbg, Game Habitat and Southern Sweden Producers Association to build cross-industry networks and to strengthen the content production industries in Southern Sweden through the focus of World Building. Made possible with the financial support of Kultur Skåne.

1) WORLD BUILDING SESSIONS - June 4+5 mornings

Join us for our 3rd edition of Crafting Worlds. We are in preparations for exciting two day morning sessions on June 4+5, where world builders from film, games and other media meet to be inspired and learn from each other. Beside the main topic 'crafting worlds', we will also talk about the potential of prototypes for creative entrepreneurs, the adaptation process of crafted worlds to different media, peculiarities when it comes to audience engagement and much more! You find a detailed programme further down. Don't forget to book your ticket in time :-)


2) ADAPTATION WORKSHOP - June 4 afternoon

Do you feel your story might be bigger than a movie/game etc.? And do you want to find out if your story might attract a global audience? Then this is right up your alley! Come and test the adaptation potential of your own story idea by signing up for our unique adaptation workshop hosted by DJ2 Entertainment on June 4. Adaptation experts Dimitri M. Johnson and Stephan Bugaj will give you individual feedback on your projects and you have the chance to test your ideas with other world builders. OBS: pre-sign up required!

At the beginning of each individual workshop session you will be asked to present your project (max. 5min). Please send your presentation material to project leader Thilo Zimmermann (thilo@craftingworlds.se) via WeTransfer until latest June 1 (accepted files: ppt, web links - max. file size 15 MB). You will receive your individual slot time June 2nd via email.

  • OPTIONAL: In order to maximize the feedback by Dimitri and Stephan, please send further project information to project leader Thilo Zimmermann (thilo@craftingworlds.se) via WeTransfer until latest May 30 (accepted files: pdf, ppt, web links). You will be asked to sign a submission release form to ensure your permission in order for us to legally review your submitteed material.

Dmitri M. Johnson (Founder/CEO/Producer)

With invaluable experience acquired at New Regency, The Gotham Group, Union Entertainment, and as CEO of dj2, Dmitri has packaged, developed, set up, and is producer on dozens of TV and motion picture projects. Comfortable conducting business at his desk, but happiest on-set during production, Dmitri is a Musical Theater devotee and a die-hard (in his heart, forever San Diego) Chargers’ fan.


Stephan Bugaj (CCO/Producer)

Stephan’s film & games background spans both his work as a tech artist and a screenwriter at Pixar and at Telltale Games where he directed writing, dialog and animation for such titles as Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead (S2), The Wolf Among Us, and Tales From The Borderlands. As DJ2 CCO, Stephan is producer on dozens of film and TV projects. He also designs personalities for digital influencers and androids; his Sophia Awakens short films premiered at Cannes.


Tarsier's Little Nightmares - a retrospective project journey

Tarsier Studios were formed in 2004, and have grown from a team of ten students to a million-selling, multi-platform studio employing over 70 people. While their formative years were spent in collaboration with Media Molecule and Sony XDEV, Tarsier has since moved into full independence, and released their first two original games in 2017 - Statik and Little Nightmares.

Dave Mervik has been a game developer since 2001, and has worked in both QA and Level Design before becoming Tarsier's Narrative Designer in 2010. His work to date includes writing for titles such as LittleBigPlanet Vita, Statik, and Little Nightmares.

Southern Sweden Producers Association, or native Skånska Filmproducentföreningen, is an association of film production companies based in Southern Sweden. The association aims to create a network for Skåne film producers and other creatives to be able to collaborate and support each other.
