Description

‘What will you do with your one wild and precious life?’ Mary Oliver

Can we, truly, find a work-life balance? And what does that mean anyway?

Our systems are in a time of radical change. Our personal systems of health, relationship and wellbeing, every bit as much as the global systems of politics, economy and ecology are continually challenged and tested.

There is constant tension between our personal and our professional worlds and lives, tension between the different aspects of ourselves. Our current, cultural, version and understanding of ‘professional’ furthers the notion of fragmentation of ourselves, on leaving certain things at home, or at the very least at the door.

What’s possible when we have access to all parts of ourselves, all aspects of who we are, to engage with creativity, idea generation, problem solving, relationships? How can the personal and the professional breathe easily together?

WHAT?

Any system is at its most efficient when it is in contact with the most parts of itself.” Don McFarland, founder Body Harmony.

A two-day small group workshop that gets under the skin of our human desire to be more of who we are, more of the time and to understanding what difference this can make to our sense of purpose, fulfilment, balance and motivation. Co-designed and co-facilitated by Emma Haughton, Relational Dynamics coach and Gestalt group practitioner, and Lindsay McLeod, Body Harmony teacher and practitioner.

"Emma is a breath of fresh air; intelligent, creative, business-savvy and captivating. If you want to shake up your organisation’s culture – look no further." Tania Menegatti, Internal Communications Business Partner, British Gas

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

As my colleague expertly said on hearing about the workshop, 'so, it's not a spa retreat!!'

Expect to step out of your place of comfort; expect healthy challenge, to explore the unknown, unfamiliar. Expect to do that in a creative, safe, encouraging AND provocative space. Expect to make new connections. Expect to learn, a lot.

WHY?

If we can learn to pay attention and listen deeply, at a cellular level, to how we are helping or hindering ourselves to be integrated – bodies, minds, hearts, lived and remembered experience - and less in conflict with ourselves, then we can achieve a strength and a force of impact in our professional activity that can ripple out beyond the individual.

"Truly, I cannot remember a more deeply centred yet fluid of mind instructor." Robin Sands, Biodynamic bodywork therapist

When we bring all of ourselves to any activity, there is a far greater chance of accessing our genius. Of bringing our best and of surprising even ourselves. By cultivating the presence of our individual personal genius in our professional lives all aspects of our selves stand to gain. We can love our work and love ourselves in our work.

And in so doing, our professional lives feedback a sense of wellbeing and nourishment to our health on all levels; mental, emotional, psychological, physical and relational.

A Gestalt: an organized whole that is perceived as more than the sum of its parts.

HOW?

We'll invite you to work with curiousity, creativity and commitment. We’ll encourage a mix of individual reflection, small group and whole group work, including spatial, physical and visual exercises, reflective writing and group discussion.

A group, relational approach can expand perspective, creating space for new levels of learning, new insights and reflection through interaction and exchange.

WHO?

Anyone!! This a human question/quest, so if you're human AND you'd like to join us, then the workshop is for you!
