Event description

Description

Inspired by the themes of cross-cultural communication and identity construction present in Crafted Strangers, CCCD invites local makers, writers, and creatives to “Craft with a Stranger”. Participants will respond to prompts in order to create new work inspired by the exhibition and be anonymously paired with a collaborator to create something together.

This is registration for the public event on 6/28. To participate in the creation of artwork for the event, stop by CCCD's Benchspace Gallery & Workshop by October 7th to pick up an instruction packet or email info@craftcreativitydesign.org to learn more.

Deadlines for participants:

October 7: Pick up your kit from CCCD
October 13: Deadline to create your 1st original work of art
October 27: Deadline to create your 2nd work of art and write a letter to your anonymous collaborator
October 28: Install and present work at CCCD

This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition Crafted Strangers, on view at The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design from Friday, September 15, 2017 - Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Crafted Strangers is curated by the 2017 CCCD Curatorial Fellows Matters Unsettled (Cass Gardiner and Quizayra Gonzalez) and organized by CCCD. The 2017 CCCD Curatorial Fellowship was made possible by the John & Robyn Horn Foundation. Exhibition programming is supported by Donna and Ralph Briskin. CCCD is supported in part by a grant from the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Benchspace programming is supported in part by Sara and Bill Morgan.
