Every Tuesday night from 7 to 9:30 we have a free community art class in the Makery at Place for Sustainable Living in Oakland. We do different crafts every week (sustainably minded of course!) and the last Tuesday of the month is always an open studio night where you can bring a project from home or start something new with our supplies. We have a large collection of tools that have been donated including: sewing machines, sergers, screen printing, painting and drawing supplies, and a recently aquired pottery wheel.
Our mission is to help people create art and community is a free space every week. We always have tea and you are welcome to bring snacks to share. Some projects we have done include: collage, upcycling unused clothes, making tarn (yarn from t-shirts), and painting found objects. All classes are free, but we happily accept donations to help keep our maker space running!
