Help celebrate Center City’s newest public space and its signature mural, Cradle, by Lisbon-based artist Diogo Machado! Cradle is an awe-inspiring artwork that embodies the essence of Philadelphia’s unique character. The mural, made of imported ceramic tilework, features playful references to Philadelphia’s storied history as a city of many firsts, while drawing on centuries of tile-making tradition from the artist’s native country, Portugal, as re-inspired by the nearby Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. Mural Arts and East Market for a happy hour event dedicated to exploring the story behind this signature project – with a premiere of two short videos on the making of the mural, informal q-and-a with the project’s curator, and a chance for you to share your own ideas about Philadelphia as a cradle of innovation. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
