Creative People and Places Hull – invitation to artists’ consultation event.
The collapse of the previous Roots & Wings/ Art for Hull programme, hit many artists and small arts organisations hard, depriving Hull of a great opportunity to building a long-term legacy of aspiration, capacity and skills to underpin the arts in the city post-2017.
Fortunately, £2.4million remained unspent from the original Creative People and Places programme and Arts Council England has now invited Goodwin Development Trust to apply for these funds as lead applicant and accountable body of a new consortium.
This will be a special ‘solicited’ application process, with no competitors but no guarantee of success – it must be a great bid with a fresh and exciting vision. We must also evidence that we have learned lessons from the past.
Goodwin is holding a consultation event specifically aimed at artists and small arts organisations affected by the demise of Art for Hull, offering them the opportunity to help shape best practice for any future commissioning programme.
In addition, Goodwin will present its new Creative ENRG programme which will launch in November. Funded by the Arts Council’s Creative Local Growth Fund and ERDF, the programme will support both new and existing arts practitioners and arts organisations, giving them access to pre-start up and start up advice, as well as access to intensive, specialist consultancy support, tailored to their needs, to help them grow and thrive.
Kingston Art Group have kindly offered to host the event.
