Event description

Description

The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training program is a safe, non-harmful, systematic behavior management approach designed to help support staff and teachers provide for the best possible care, welfare, safety and security of defensive, disruptive or potentially out-of-control students even during their most violent moments thereby following Colorado’s Protection of Persons from Restraint Act, C.R.S. §§ 26-20-101.
Class location is at the Haxtun Community Center. Please bring a lunch or plan to go out to buy something. Please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes or other similar comfortable shoes (NO sandals) that allow for stretching and exercises. Classes will be cancelled if less than 6 register.

The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Training—Refresher training courses should be attended to review and expand upon the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training concepts. It is recommended that all participants review course content to refresh their skills every six months. At a minimum, formal refresher courses should be completed once prior to expiration of the initial year training to maintain certification.
There will be two different types of refresher classes offered: The “Key Point Refresher”, and “Setting Limits”. Two other courses are available upon request: “Louder than Words: How to Intervene With Nonverbal Individuals” and “Advanced Physicals”. Each class will meet Refresher Requirements with the inclusion of Key Points and Physical Control Positions.
