Description

Welcome to the 2019 Wildflower Season! We are excited to invite you to Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve for breathtaking views and stunning wildflowers!

This strenuous 7.5-mile round-trip hike will gain 900 feet in elevation to the top of the ridge for amazing views and fields of wildflowers specific to these hills. You will have chances to see endangered butterflies, possibly burrowing owls, and all kinds of rare plants.

For this experience we will ask you to bring at least one hiking pole, plenty of water, snacks or lunch, a hat that ties down, and sturdy, good hiking shoes that will support your ankles. The docent-led hike includes a steady 2-mile hill climb that promises spectacular sights once completed. Due to the steep incline, we do not allow babies, toddlers, or children under 12 unless they are used to hiking 5+ miles at a time. The hike begins promptly at 9:00 am, and all attendees must arrive by 8:45 am. It will be offered Saturdays, March 2 and March 30 and Sundays, March 3 and March 31. Spaces are limited, and registration is required. Please make sure to sign up for the specific date you would like to attend.

Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve is home to over a dozen rare and endangered species, so we ask that you tread lightly and stay on trail so these species and their habitat can continue to thrive. Please do not bring your pets.

We look forward to sharing this spectacular wildflower season with you!

If the event has sold out and you would like to schedule a private hike, please call the Open Space Authority at 408-224-7476 and ask for Teri.
