ABOUT THE CUPPING
Part 1 takes us to the land of a thousand hills: Rwanda. As Schluter we were working in Rwanda during its initial emergence as a specialty coffee origin, its first wetmills having been built in 2001.
In many ways the coffees on this table, like so many which come through our office, are the culmination of these 20+ years of relationships. Such relationships were built on a shared love of quality coffee and a desire to see specialty coffee be a catalyst for real economic change in coffee-growing communities.
The cupping table will include the new crop highlights selected by our QC and trade team across multiple regions and processes: classic fully washed, raised bed naturals, and a handful of experimental fermentation lots, with Rwandan producers like many others around the world starting to experiment with extended anaerobic fermentation techniques.
