Join us where a panel of speakers will share best practices, guidance, and advice for HR professionals and businesses regarding the COVID-19 vaccination. This presentation will include an overview of vaccine requirements, incentivizing vaccines in the workplace, vaccine safety, and more. Members of the public are welcome to join for free!

The Department of Commerce and the Department of Health will be presenting an expert panel focused on providing HR leaders and business owners vital, accurate information and advice on COVID-19 vaccinations, including best practices for legalities surrounding employment vaccine requirements and incentivizing vaccines in the workplace, the current state of vaccinations in the state of North Dakota, vaccine safety and efficiency, and the connection between healthy workplaces and economic vitality. This panel will include a discussion on these topics as well as a question & answer session with the experts on the panel.

Meet the panelists:

Molly A. Howell, B.S., M.P.H. - Immunization Director/Assistant Section Chief of Disease Control, North Dakota Department of Health – Vaccine safety & efficiency

Molly Howell is currently the Immunization Director and Assistant Section Chief of Disease Control at the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH). Molly has worked in the field of immunizations for the past 18 years. As Immunization Director, she oversees implementation of immunization policies and activities in North Dakota, including evidence-based activities to increase immunization coverage rates, health care provider education, surveillance, and implementation of the North Dakota Immunization Information System (NDIIS). Molly has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Molly is an active member of the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) and previously served as Chair of the organization. She is currently a member of the executive committee and AIM’s liaison to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. In January 2020, Molly was appointed to the National Vaccine Advisory Committee. She has previously published immunization and infectious disease-related articles in Public Health Reports, the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Courtney Titus - Assistant Attorney General, North Dakota Department of Civil Litigation - Requiring vaccinations and offering incentives in the workplace

Courtney R. Titus is an Assistant Attorney General for the North Dakota Department of Civil Litigation. She has been with the office since August of 2017. Her primary focus is on general counsel/litigation in employment law for all agencies for the state of North Dakota as well as litigation counsel for the Department of Labor and other litigation as assigned. Originally from Hankinson, Courtney graduated from undergrad at VCSU in 2013 then went on to graduate from Creighton University School of Law in 2016.

Clifford T. Mauriello, M.D. - Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist, Sanford Health and Associate Director, Sanford Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center - The connection of healthy workplaces and economic vitality

Dr. Clifford Mauriello practices pediatrics, specializing in infectious disease, travel medicine and cystic fibrosis treatment at Sanford Health. He graduated with a BS in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill in 2000.

Dr. Mauriello received his M.D. at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2007. He completed his Pediatric Internship and Residence at EVMS in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Dr. Maureillo finalized his Pediatric ID Fellowship at EVMS in 2013. Since graduation, Dr. Maureillo has worked at Sanford Health as a Pediatric ID Specialist. He is certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric ID by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Mauriello currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Northwest Campus.

Jenny Galbraith - B.S. in Biology at the University of Mary

Jenny has worked as an Epidemiologist with the North Dakota Department of Health for the past five years in a variety of roles. She currently serves as the COVID-19 Vaccine Manager and ensures all North Dakotans have access to and are educated on COVID-19 vaccine.

This presentation will include a discussion about the current COVID-19 vaccination rates and trends in North Dakota, a brief discussion surrounding current vaccine recommendations, and where to find vaccine in North Dakota. COVID-19 vaccine safety, efficacy, and why vaccines are so important to the health of North Dakotans will also be discussed.
