Covering extremist groups in Georgia
Event Information
About this event
The aim of the series is three-fold; to educate Georgia journalists about who the groups are and what they believe in with a particular emphasis on the Peach State, a rundown on organizations who are keeping tabs on them and assessing their threat level and how journalists can cover them effectively and safely.
You can choose to attend any or all of the series of Zoom panel discussions at 7:30 p.m. April 13, 27 and May 11.
May 11 will be a presentation bringing the national and television perspective from Henry Schuster, a producer for 60 minutes.
The April 13 panel featured AJC journalists Tia Mitchell and Chris Joyner.
April 27 featured three professionals who's work follows these groups closely: Susan Corke, Intelligence Project director at Southern Poverty Law Center; Amy Iandiorio, investigative researcher with the Anti-Defamation League; and Cas Mudde, Guardian columnist and professor in the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia.
