Goal – to create the opportunity and mechanisms for intentional and meaningful understanding of the ways in which racism continues to affect and infect our community life. We seek to engage this issue, as a community, in real terms and real time. We anticipate that this process will culminate in action.
9:00 – 9:15 Welcome and check in – How do you feel about today?
9:15 The Box Exercise: Identify problems and approach solutions; not fix blame.
Introduce Wall of History & Article on White Privilege for Tomorrow
Break – 15 minutes
10:45 – 11:00 Individual assignment – What do you like about being White or a Person of Color (break down groups)
11:15 – 11:30 Individual assignment –What events in your personal story shaped your perspective about race and how to deal with people who might be different than you are? Who are the heroes and she-roes in that story? Explain why.
11:30 – 12:00 Small Group Storytelling

1:00 – 2:00 Identifying the Ghosts of Racism: Tell the hidden backstory of racism that continues to affect your church, city, county, and district. Small Groups/Whole Group
Culture 2:00 – 2:30
Break – 15 minutes
3:15 – 3:45 Whole group-Trainer Traps. Small Groups, identifying your own Trainer Traps: Think about having a conversation with family and friends who might find some of the definitions that we discussed before the break uncomfortable or even insulting. What would you do or say to them?
3:45-4:00 Reflection and closure - what have we accomplished today? What do we still need to do?
9:00 – 9:15 Welcome and check in – Where are you? How are you?
9:30 – 10:00 Foot Identification. Identifying Institutional Racism
10:00 – 10:30 Small group, whole group - What has your organization/ community done to address Institutional Racism? How effective has it been? Explain why.

11:15 – 12:00 Small group, whole group - Claiming an Anti-Racist Identity

- Baptism: Do you claim the Power God gives to Resist Evil?

2:45-3:45 Fishbowl Exercise: Reversing the Tradition: White People talking about White Privilege (reactions to the article) People of Color evaluation
