Course Description:

This 2-day workshop provides an introduction to sensory processing, polyvagal theory, trauma and attachment informed care, and seclusion and restraint reduction models.  Learning activities include a combination of lecture, interactive lab and clinical case exploration.    A review of supporting research, neuroscience and related assessment, treatment planning, goal setting and therapeutic interventions are explored.  Participants will leave with a variety of practical ideas and resources for individual and programmatic applications.   Modifications for working with child, adult, and geriatric populations of varying ability levels are explored.

Course Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between sensory processing disorders

  2. Recognize how the neuroscience of polyvagal theory supports sensory, trauma, attachment models and seclusion and restraint reduction practices

  3. Identify the relationship between sensory processing, trauma, attachment and other mental health symptoms and behaviors

  4. Identify how the skilled use of sensory approaches in a trauma informed manner supports attachment, autonomic regulation, development, and the recovery process

  5. Identify assessment and treatment interventions targeting specific sensory processing patterns in a manner that is trauma and attachment informed

  6. Recognize how the use of sensory processing and trauma informed care approaches influence seclusion and restraint reduction

  7. Recognize how to integrate sensory, trauma and attachment-informed approaches on individual and programmatic scales

  8. Identify at least 10 new sensory supportive tools to integrate into your practice

Group Discounts: Groups must register together to obtain the group rates unless otherwise authorized. Groups of 2-5 receive a $20.00/person discount.  Groups of 6 or more receive a $50.00/person discount.

NOTE: Maximum combined discount limit per person for any course is $75.00 off of the regular tuition amount of $399.00 per person.

Course Credit: All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance with contact hours indicating the number of hours in actual attendance.  The maximum number of earned contact hours for this workshop is: 14 contact hours.

Course timeframes and breaks: Day one course registration/sign in begins at 8:30 AM.  Courses begin promptly at 9:00 AM and adjourn at 4:30 PM each day.  There is a one- hour lunch break (on your own) and two 15-minute breaks each day (snacks provided).

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be in writing, including the reason for cancelling, and must be received by Champagne Conferences & Consultation (CCC) at least three weeks prior to the course; no compensation will be granted after that date.   If the cancellation meets the three-week deadline, the registrant may choose a refund or a transfer credit, minus a $75 processing fee, to be issued following the program. A transfer credit may be applied toward another CCC course within two years of the issue date.

Champagne Conferences & Consultation reserves the right to cancel any course with due cause and refund in full.  Participants purchasing NON-refundable airfare tickets should verify course availability before final purchase. Weather and/or transportation difficulties are not the responsibility of the workshop sponsor, CCC, and failure of a chosen means of transportation is not grounds for a tuition refund.
