Event description

Description

New Offering!!

During this interactive workshop participants develop an appreciation for their role in becoming culturally competent by: 1) providing a framework on how to address issues of equity and race; 2) creating common language for entering into discourse; and 3) increasing ones understanding of diverse experiences and perspectives. This framework takes into account the importance of deepening awareness of self—moving from color blindness to racial cognizance; increasing knowledge of others and their experiences of racism and oppression; developing skills to work effectively across cultures; and advocating and taking action to initiate change. Participants are invited to learn, reflect and practice engaging in the courageous conversations which are the foundations in moving towards equity.

Learning Objectives:

Participants Will…

  1. Develop a common language and understanding of cultural competence.
  2. Increase ability to talk about race and other isms.
  3. Gain knowledge and awareness of race, racism and identity.
