Description

(For registration for Friday's keynote address click here)

Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT), the idea that connection is the center of growth, is the antidote for today's divisive times. Bloomington Center for Connection is looking to become a hub for RCT conversations in the Bloomington community, and to bring RCT to a wider audience. This summit is intended to be a local launch for BCC as well as a general introduction to RCT for the broader Bloomington community.

Small group connections for those interested in volunteering with BCC will be offered on Friday, August 10 from 9-5.

Maureen Walker will deliver the keynote speech on Friday evening, at Bloomington City Hall at 7:00. Her topic is Power Redefined: Disruptive Empathy as a Tool for Liberation. You can read more about Maureen at her website .

Saturday, join us at City Hall for Conversation Reimagined, two opportunities to observe RCT in action while delving into some of the issues challenging our community. Chosen participants with differing viewpoints will discuss an issue with two narrators skilled in RCT who will frequently pause the action to talk about how RCT fits and what can change in the conversation. Our topics include generational differences in social justice advocacy, including civility and the politics of respectability, and the opioid crisis.
