Event description

Description

Registration, breakfast and networking: 9:00 - 9:45 a.m.
Program: 9:45 - 2:00 p.m.

The Arizona Community Foundation and its collaborative partners invite you to participate as we explore the data and impact of mass incarceration on Arizona's minority communities.

Arizona has the fifth highest incarceration rate in the U.S. Since 1992, the population of the state's prison system has increased by 200 percent and in 2016 reached 42,902, the highest in Arizona history. During Courage to Listen, we will examine the number of people incarcerated in Arizona and the racial and ethnic disparities in the criminal justice system by participating in "The Web" interactive workshop.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how our criminal justice system works and walk away with a clearer understanding of the history of our system and its ties to colonialism and slavery.
