Light supper and lecture $40

Saturday, October 5th, 9am-2pm “The Problem Parables and Controversial Scriptural Texts”

Professor Amy-Jill Levine is superbly qualified to provide context and insights that are typically not discussed or even taught in churches. She will help us to see how ancient Scripture would have been understood by its initial audience, and how we might hear it anew today. She is University Professor of New Testament And Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School And College Of Arts And Sciences, and author of numerous outstanding books, including Short Stories by Jesus and The Misunderstood Jew, and is co-editor of The Jewish Annotated New Testament. Through her books, teaching, and video lectures, she offers serious and casual students of Christianity alike a deeper dive into the Gospels, providing insight, understanding, and connection to stories that are both historical and eternal.

You can also hear Amy-Jill Levine preach on Sunday, Oct 6, at 9 and 11am at Christ Church Greenwich. Sunday Forum talk between services in the Parish Hall. Free and open to the public.

All are welcome!
