Many couples progress through the challenges of building their relationship with peaks and valleys. The Couple’s Challenge: Advent Edition is geared to help couples better prepare for the celebration of the Nativity by participating in activities together that strengthen their physical, emotional, and spiritual bonds. Since this program is geared towards intimate relationships, it is strongly encouraged that the couples be married, engaged or seriously dating.
Couples will enter into the challenge by making a donation at https://coupleschallengeadvent.eventbrite.com. Couples will receive an email with the rules along with an invite to a private Facebook group where all the communication and recording of the challenge will take place. We apologize for the inconvenience, but for the sake of the game this step is necessary. Each couple will need to post photographs of their activities in order to receive points. Only one member from each couple posting to Facebook is necessary. There are points given to daily activities listed below. Thrown into the mix will be surprise daily and weekly challenges. Also, some activities can garner double the points. For example, attendance at Mass as a couple is considered praying together and reading/studying Scripture. We want to be sure to encouraging good habits among couples. Couples will receive double the points if they connect with another couple for any of the activities. The competition will last from 4:00 pm on November 26 to 4:00 pm on December 24, 2016.
The couple that racks up the most amount of points during the challenge will win the competition. Proceeds will benefit a charity. This time around, proceeds will benefit Mary’s Mantle, a Catholic home for expectant mothers. Suggested donation is $25 per couple, but couples are encouraged to discern the amount they can afford. The donation will also guarantee a spot at the Epiphany celebration on Friday, January 6 at 5:30 pm at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. This celebration will include the couple and their children. No need for baby sitting that night! More information to follow.
