Event description

Description

Americans have chosen their next President. They have selected someone whose unorthodox approach may finally bring them the change that they desire. With his victory, there remains only one problem. He has neglected to provide specific policy proposals on nearly every issue, and many of the proposals that he has put forth are simply unfeasible. The result is that we have no idea what he will actually do and whether his efforts will help or harm the country. Now, more than ever, America needs a vocal, unified and informed movement to guide policy decisions in Congress and reshape misguided policies issuing from the White House.

While this President elect has given us room for concern, it is possible that he wants (and needs) regular input from those familiar with the decisions that he must make. He has stated that he wants to invest in infrastructure, generate more manufacturing opportunities (definitely possible in advanced manufacturing such as aerospace and medical machinery) and create a level playing field for America in terms of trade. These are all worthy goals which have been advocated by APPS members (both liberal and conservative) for years. However, we don’t believe that this President elect actually knows how to do any of these things. It will be our mission to produce a bipartisan mandate from the American people which is both practical and actionable. Together, we will create a blueprint to guide this President toward intelligent and productive policy rather than rhetoric and fantasy. If our input is not given the opportunity to reshape harmful policies, then we must stand together to restrain them entirely.

The world is watching to see whether or not America will abandon its principles, its allies and its standing in the world. In honor of those who came before us and for the sake of future generations, such decline cannot be allowed. We must stand guard against reckless, short-sighted or harmful policies that will damage the American economy, compromise our security or alienate our allies. That responsibility is now on us. To every patriot, activist, or concerned citizen- your country needs you now.

Doors open at 6pm and the event will begin at 6:30pm. There will be wine and food provided for a cocktail hour afterward.
