About this Event

The fifth season of the Couch Surfer Series continues Sunday, December 8 in the new Radio Boise Studios.

This show will feature playwright Heidi Kraay, musician Thomas Paul and writer Matthew Cameron Clark as moderator.

Presented by Radio Boise, the Couch Surfer Series is an intimate night of performance and stories with writers, artists and musicians. (Think NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts blended with Fresh Air.)

Doors open at 5:30 PM; Couch Surfing begins at 6:00 PM and runs until 8:00 PM with a short intermission.

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

All proceeds go to the featured artists and Radio Boise.

Single tickets are $15 and are limited.

Sponsored by Bittercreek Alehouse, Boise Brewing, Indian Creek Winery and Open Table Catering.

Playwright, writer and theater maker Heidi Kraay examines the connection between brain and body, seeking empathy with fractured characters. Plays include see in the dark, How To Hide Your Monster, New Eden and Kilgore, as well as co-devised plays, one-acts, plays for young audiences and short plays. Her work has been presented in Boise, regionally, in NYC and internationally, most recently through Tomo Suru Players (Vancouver, BC), Thingamajig Theatre Company (Pagosa Springs, CO) and the Alternative Theater Company (NYC). About musician Thomas Paul:

https://thomaspaul.bandcamp.com

Singer-songwriter and composer Thomas Paul is a multi-instrumentalist adept in many genres. When not leading his own band, Paul can be found performing solo or in a number of projects, including bands, theater, comedy and occasionally the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale.

The Idaho Statesman’s Michael Deeds wrote, “He’s been in more Boise bands than any sane musician should, and he plays essentially any instrument with strings or keys.... He’s also eccentric...”

His albums Yours, Etc… (2005), House On Fire (2009), Goodbye, Waterloo… (2011), Interference (2015), Singalongs (2016) and No Air Anywhere (2019) are available at The Record Exchange in Boise. Paul still occasionally stops by Radio Boise on Friday mornings to co-host the V3. (Photo credit: Jason Sievers)

About moderator Matthew Cameron Clark:

Matthew Cameron Clark is a writer, actor, director and seventh generation Idahoan. He founded Boise Contemporary Theater, where he served as the Artistic Director for 23 years. He has co-written four plays with Dwayne Blackaller: A Nighttime Survival Guide, The Uncanny Valley, Narwhal! Unicorn of the Sea and Rabbit/Moon. His new company, City of Trees Productions, currently has multiple creative projects in various stages of development, including two films, a new play, a graphic novel and a podcast. Matthew is a recipient of the Boise Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts and an Idaho Commission on the Arts Fellowship. (Photo credit: Lila Streicher)
