This is great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of costume design and creation for a real movie!! During the month of September, there will be a professional movie filmed in Boise, at JUMP and in McCall. So we are preparing for this project throughout August and including the community in the process. This is your chance to be apart of a really awesome movie project and see your name on the big screen!

Feel free to Jump in and join the fun!

Class #1: Character Development Thru Wardrobe: Clothes can tell a lot about a person, and even tell a story in itself. Learn how to develop your character, by designing a costume.

Class #2: Costuming on a Budget: Ever struggle with trying to put together the perfect costume/wardrobe, with a small budget? Learn the best tips and tricks on how to do just that!

Class #3: Costume Organization: Help, while learning, how to organize and label costumes/wardrobe, that will be used in the upcoming movie "Making Sense."

Class #4: Costume Alterations: Help and learn how to dress an actor, and alter any costumes that do not seem to fit just right, for the upcoming movie "Making Sense."

When: Saturdays 1pm-2pm August 17th, 24th, 31st, September 7th.

Where: JUMP Make Studio on the 5th floor, take a left out of the elevators. Please note, August 24th we will plan to meet in the Annex, located next to the JUMP building on Borah and Myrtle Streets. Please use the parking lot entrance. Feel free to email with questions.

What to Expect: We will be working with the costumes and actors that will be used in the upcoming movie Making Sense. Basic sewing skills is perfered. Must be comfortable working with a sewing machine during the "Costume Alterations" workshop.

Amanda is a costume designer and fashion designer. Her passion is making visual wearable art, that expresses the emotion and personality of the wearer/character. Amanda has done 2 fashion shows, hosted several costume contests, done about a dozen photoshoots displaying her work, has worked on several movie projects, with more to come, was in the May/June issue of Greenbelt magazine, and has even created some outfits for a celebrities wife, all in a very short time.

Amanda gets her inspiration by everyday life, and the visions from her dreams.

What is JUMP?

JUMP – or Jack’s Urban Meeting Place – is a not-for-profit, interactive creative center and community gathering place in the heart of downtown Boise. Please go to to learn more and join our newsletter so you are in the know on fun, spontaneous happenings at JUMP.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

You may bus, bike, drive, walk, skip, etc. Check Boise's bus schedule at We love bikers and have beautiful bike racks to secure your ride. If you plan to drive, paid parking is available in Simplot's below ground parking garage, which is accessible from Myrtle Street between 11th and 9th Street. Please note, Simplot's below ground parking garage is only available after 4pm until 6am on weekdays, and all day on weekends. Apologies, the JUMP parking garage is currently under construction.

What is the refund policy?

We depend on your enrollment for a successful class so please plan your schedule carefully. Classes which do not meet minimum enrollment are subject to cancellation. Refunds are issued in full if the class or program is cancelled, if you cancel at least seven days before the starting date of the class, or for documented medical reasons. Please email to request a refund.

What about cancelled classes?

Please check our website and the hours of operation for any cancellations, you may also call the front desk at 208-639-6610. We will email registered participants and also post on our facebook page.
