Description

Correcting Cardiovascular Disease Part 2 - Beyond Cholesterol: Using Advanced Assessments to Address the Modifiable Risk Factors
Presented by Chad Oler, ND

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the US, accounting for nearly 1 out of every 3 deaths every year. It’s been estimated that almost half of the US adult population currently has some form of CVD, many of them just don’t know it yet, which leads to a death due to CVD every 38 seconds in this country. There is a huge gap between the current standard of care in the treatment of CVD and the available scientific
evidence. In Part 1 of this series, we discussed how to use advanced assessment techniques to uncover and address dyslipidemia, blood pressure, and blood sugar imbalances to reduce a person’s CVD risk. In this seminar, we will begin by conducting a thorough review of the information covered in Part 1, including the role that cholesterol, lipoproteins, hypertension, and insulin resistance play in the development of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. We will then move on to discuss how we can identify and address the impacts of chronic stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction on the atherogenic process.

We will formulate a step-by-step plan that clinicians can use to thoroughly address, reduce and even reverse their patient’s cardiovascular disease risk. Specific protocols, including testing and test interpretation; dietary and supplemental recommendations; and lifestyle therapies to address each underlying imbalance will be explained, as will office flow and follow up procedures. Numerous case studies will also be reviewed to show clinicians how to implement these strategies into practice and demonstrate their effectiveness.

Key Clinical Takeaways:

  • How cardiovascular disease (CVD) develops.

  • The role cholesterol, lipoproteins, hypertension, insulin resistance, stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction play in the development of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.

  • How to identify and address these modifiable risk factors using functional testing, diet, supplemental support, and lifestyle therapies.
