About this Event

**These course dates are tentative - to be confirmed**

Are you considering Impact Investing as a philanthropic and/or investment strategy for your organization?

This first of its kind Corporate Strategics & Impact Investing course was developed by Impact Finance Center, a multi-university nonprofit academic center that identifies, trains, and activates philanthropists and investors to become impact investors.

The course will cover impact investing strategy, process, governance, and investment efficiency through a new framework for evaluating both philanthropy and investing. Expert presentations and guidance will teach both impact investing and how to integrate it throughout your company.

The learning format uses a case method, leveraging examples of successful impact investing strategies deployed by a diverse range of corporations, including: Patagonia Tin Shed Ventures Internal Fund, Clif Bar White Road Investments External Fund, Closed Loop Fund and Closed Loop Ventures Commingled Funds, Starbucks’ use of a green bond to upgrade its supply chain, and Wells Fargo’s and Nike’s use of an accelerator.

Whether you work at a corporate foundation or manage a corporate social responsibility program, marketing department, and/or innovation team, this 14-hour course is designed for you to learn by doing to better understand all available opportunities that can empower you to do well by doing good, simultaneously increasing revenue, decreasing costs, improving brand, and reducing risk.

WE BRING A COMBINED 20+ YEARS OF IMPACT INVESTING & CORPORATE INNOVATION EXPERIENCE

DR STEPHANIE GRIPNE: Touted as “the Steve Jobs of impact investing,” Stephanie is the innovative force behind Impact Finance Center, an academic center and movement-builder committed to unleashing $1T in untapped investment and philanthropic assets for environmental and social change. Responsible for IFC’s CO Impact Days, the first-ever place-based impact investing marketplace and symposium, Stephanie’s leadership has generated 75+ direct impact investments in Colorado and more than 100 additional commitments during the last two years alone. This year, in her tireless pursuit to scale both the reach of IFC’s educational programming and the number of impact investment dollars reaching nonprofits and social ventures typically ignored by traditional investors, she will launch IFC’s Impac Institute, a hybrid in-person and online impact investing curriculum.

GREGG BAGNI: As Director of White Road Investments and founding President of Alien Truth Communications, Gregg combines his expertise in off-the-wall, impactful marketing campaigns with his desire to support exciting, highly driven, creative entrepreneurs. At White Road Investments since 2010, he has helped identify, mentor, and fund mission-minded companies as they execute market-expanding strategies to positively impact the environment or communities. Previously, Gregg spent seven years as Senior VP of Marketing and Product Development for Schwinn Cycling & Fitness, as part of a new management team that carried the ailing icon back to the number one position in the U.S. marketplace. He also assisted Telluride Ski & Golf Company through a groundbreaking brand re-position that produced the highest revenues in its 32 years. With recent clients like Clif Bar, Copper Mountain Ski Area, Numi Tea, Krimson Klover, MyChelle Dermaceuticals, Interbike, Mountain Hardwear, and Green Garage, Advertising Age voted him a “Top 100” Marketer. He has appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN and other current event programs.

Participants will work in small groups to encourage ongoing dialogue and post-course collaboration.

During this intensive coursework, participants will be introduced to Impact Commitments – low cost, low-risk action steps that companies can take along their own customized impact investing journey – and will leave well-equipped to share newly gained tools, knowledge and strategies with their management teams.

About Impact Finance Center:

Impact Finance Center is a multi-university nonprofit academic center that identifies, trains, and activates philanthropists and investors to become impact investors. IFC serves as an accelerator for asset owners such as corporate strategics.

“Watching Stephanie map an overview of the diverse strategies and creative possibilities for moving money towards positive impact was by far the best, most action packed, cogent, eye opening presentation and overview of the field that i have ever experienced.” Joel Solomon, Author - Clean Money

“It’s super rare to get world class portfolio advice from someone who doesn’t have their hand in your pocket. It’s rarer to get a whole new framework for thinking about donations and philanthropic work. Rarest of all is a combination of clear next steps and a challenge to take action. Stephanie Gripne and John O’Halloran of Impact Finance Center deliver a trifecta.” — John Kauffman
