ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Genre: Blues/Rock

Two extraordinary powerhouses come together for a night of dazzling musical fireworks with riveting Blues harp from two of the country’s best, Chicago Blues harp ace Corky Siegel, and compelling country-blues vocalist, Tracy Nelson. Siegel is a Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee, a founder of the legendary Siegel-Schwall Band, and celebrator of 33 years with his award-winning innovative Chamber Blues project.

In 1967, these 20 year old influencers, Corky Siegel and Tracy Nelson, met for the very first time in San Francisco in the “Summer of Love” while sharing the bill at the premier rock palace, The Fillmore. Their electrifying performances brought houses down, while their records received world-wide acclaim. They went on to carve their own separate place in popular music history. This will be the first time the two have joined forces in Evanston since those historic days of epic early rock and roll. "Not to be missed" gets thrown around lightly, however, this will be a once in a lifetime jaw-dropping collaboration you’ll want to see and hear with original gorgeous chamber quartet compositions, world-class tabla from Kalyan Pathak, and masterful Blues harp, piano, and vocals from Tracy Nelson and Corky Siegel.

Few can claim to have forged an entirely original genre of music, but in 1966, Corky Siegel did just that. Guiding the blues of Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters out of the smoky cavern of Big John’s and onto the stages of the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic and beyond, the harmonica-playing mad scientist had the tuxedo-and-gown crowd on its feet, clamoring for more of this blues-classical alchemy. These days, the harmonica virtuoso and composer is continent-hopping with Indian percussion and string quartet in Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues, continuing to bring classical and blues fans shoulder-to-shoulder…and obliterating musical categorization in the process.

Tracy Nelson has one of the signature voices of her generation. That natural gift has always guided Tracy Nelson’s soul, and allowed her to both write and seek out the deeper songs regardless of niche or genre. A fierce singer of truth and a fountain of the deepest heartache, she is an ultimate communicator and has regularly dissolved audiences across decades of performing. She is one of the few female singers who has had hit records in both blues and country genres, performing with everyone from Willie Nelson to Marcia Ball and Irma Thomas, with Grammy nominations for both her country and blues efforts.
